Indie Designer Gift-A-Long

After enjoying an extended summer (thanks to a 2-week trip to India at the end of September), I’ve realized the holidays are fast approaching. To kick off the season, I’m participating in the Indie Designer Gift-A-Long on Ravelry. All of my self-published patterns will be available for 25% off with a coupon code. See the Indie Design Gift-A-Long group on Ravelry for more info. Here are my discounted offerings:

Holidays always turn into a frantic crafting frenzy here, and I expect this year will be no different. This year, the recipients know what they’ll be getting, as I’m not nearly organized enough to finish their gifts in secret. It’s turning out to be a rather sad sequel to last year, when I managed to finish all gifts a week before Christmas AND keep them secret. I think I set the standard too high! Hopefully the gifts will make up for the lack of grace in preparing them.

That being said, my mom’s gift is finished. I made Lingerie socks (designed by Maria Naslund), using Scholler + Stahl Fortissima Socka, which I had purchased from a LYS in New Jersey using a gift certificate from my lovely in-laws.

My husband will be receiving a Sandpoint Pullover, in a dark green yarn from Cascade. Not only did he help to select the yarn, he also assisted in casting on and even tried his hand at knitting on this project. Perhaps I’ll convert him into a knitter, though it might be dangerous because the house will be over-run with stash yarn.

Finally, I’m working on the lovely Stone Hollow Mittens by Carol Sunday. I unfortunately lost some knitwear at the end of last season due to a laundry mishap, and need to replace my mittens, among other things. One mitten down, one to go!

Stay tuned for the results of my pattern-shopping during the Gift-A-Long. I’m on the lookout for a sock pattern for fingering weight yarn (in fact, to use yarn left over from the Lingerie socks above). I’m also searching for a baby sweater pattern for a friend’s new baby. Please share your recommendations in these categories, and any other end-of-year knitting!
